Once, Nick Saban was happy if his day of coaching ended with peas. Now, as a millionaire coach at Alabama, he can get all the peas he wants – and then some.
The Crimson Tide coach had a memorable response to a reporter who asked Saban if he thought he merited the $11 million signing bonus in his contract, as captured by Brandon Kamerman of Tuscaloosa TV station WVUA.

“I started out in this profession making $8,000 a year, and that was after being a graduate assistant for two years making nothing,” Saban said.
