Nick Saban, Alabama crushed sportsbooks harder than Louisville

The Louisville defense didn't have a chance Saturday, as Alabama raced to a 34-0 lead on the way to a 51-14 win.

You know who else didn't stand a chance Saturday? Sportsbooks.

It's impossible to set a line high enough for season openers when taking bets on Nick Saban's Alabama, which improved to 10-1 against the spread in such situations.

Las Vegas and offshore sportsbooks lost big - well into the six figures at minimum.

According to The Action Network, of the 25,447 betting tickets it tracked, 74 percent backed Alabama. Not all tickets are alike, of course, as some bet more than others.
