Bill Belichick will coach the New England Patriots in his 10th AFC Championship Game on Sunday. Current Alabama coach Nick Saban is considered part of Belichick's coaching tree.
In Sunday's NFC Championship Game, the lineage runs the other way. The Arizona Cardinals' Bruce Arians is in the coaching tree of Alabama icon Paul "Bear" Bryant.
Arians served as the running backs coach for Alabama in 1981 and 1982, Bryant's final two Crimson Tide teams. He'd spent three seasons as an assistant coach at Mississippi State before joining Bryant's staff.
