Thirty-four players with Alabama football roots have advanced to the NFL playoffs for the 2017 season. That's the number of players from Alabama high schools and colleges on the active rosters of the 12 NFL playoff teams.
The number would have been 38, but the Cincinnati Bengals scored on a 49-yard touchdown pass with 44 seconds to play to beat the Baltimore Ravens 31-27 on Sunday.
That knocked the Ravens -- with six state players -- out of the AFC postseason field and put in the Buffalo Bills, who have two.
On the final Sunday of the 2017 regular season, Baltimore was headed to the playoffs if it beat the Bengals or the Bills lost to the Miami Dolphins or the Tennessee Titans lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
