Texas-El Paso guard Will Hernandez bench-pressed a 225-pound weight bar 37 times to top the first wave of players tackling the first drill at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis on Thursday.
The bench press is the opening drill for each position group at the NFL Scouting Combine. On Thursday, the offensive linemen, running backs and specialists had their opportunity to show their strength.
Hernandez became the 34th player since 2000 to reach at least 37 repetitions in the bench press.
The combine record is 49 by Oregon State defensive tackle Stephen Paea in 2011.
