Alabama's Da'Shawn Hand and Da'Ron Payne weren't the fastest defensive linemen in the 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine on Sunday. But they were the fastest players for their sizes among the pro prospects trying to streak down the white strip at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
Hand clocked a 4.83-second 40, and Payne (Shades Valley) ran a 4.95.
Of the Sunday runners, none who weighed more than Hand ran faster than he did, and none who weighed more than Payne ran faster than he did. Hand weighed 297 pounds and Payne weighed 311 at the combine on Friday.
