Auburn guard Braden Smith did 35 repetitions with a 225-pound weight bar at the NFL Scouting Combine on Thursday. While that wasn't the most performed at the 2018 combine -- it was fourth -- or even the most by an offensive lineman at this year's event, no player with Alabama football roots has ever done more at the combine.
Among the combine participants who played football at an Alabama high school or college, Smith's performance in the bench press equaled the 35 repetitions by guard Evan Mathis (Homewood, Alabama) in 2005 and defensive end Carl Lawson (Auburn) in 2017.
