Michael Williams returning to NFL after missing 2016 season with knee injury

After missing the entire 2016 NFL season because of a knee injury, tight end Michael Williams is looking to pick up where he left off. Williams signed a one-year contract with the New England Patriots on Thursday, reported Ben Volin, the NFL/Patriots writer for the Boston Globe.

After working for two years after leaving Alabama to make his NFL debut in 2015 with New England, Williams suffered a knee injury, reported as a torn anterior cruciate ligament, during an offseason workout and was waived by the Patriots on June 10.
