When Chicago Bears running back Jordan Howard gained 147 yards on 23 carries in a 33-7 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, the former Gardendale High School and UAB standout lifted his total for the 2017 NFL season to 1,032 rushing yards.
Jordan's 2017 performance is the 33rd 1,000-yard rushing season turned in by a player with Alabama football roots, and it's probably not the last one for this year. New Orleans running back Mark Ingram, who won the Heisman Trophy at Alabama in 2009, has 971 rushing yards with three games remaining on the Saints' regular-season schedule.
