McElwain, Saban have a mutual admiration society

Gators coach Jim McElwain spent four seasons working for Alabama’s Nick Saban at Alabama as his offensive coordinator and quarterback coach. McElwain left Alabama to become coach at Colorado State, and he went 22-16 in his three seasons with the Rams before leaving for Gainesville around this time last year; McElwain was named UF’s coach on December 4, 2014.

So, Jim, what did you learn from Coach Saban?

“Probably the overall plan for the whole organization, not just the football specific, and how it all ties and how everybody has to have one common goal and no independent contractors,” McElwain said during a Sunday SEC championship game teleconference.
