In the latest installment of “never take what a player says about his future in the heat of the season seriously,” Mack Wilson reversed course from earlier reports and made an eleventh hour decision to turn pro.
CBS has Mack rated as the 55th best prospect in the draft which would place him solidly in the second round, but those projections can vary wildly from the evaluations of the teams who are actually doing the drafting. He will certainly be a workout warrior, his prototypical size and outstanding athleticism jumping off the screen.
For the Tide, this opens up the middle linebacker position, but there will be several candidates including rising sophomores Markail Benton, Brandon Kaho and Jaylen Moody plus elite signees Shane Lee and Christian Harris.
