Sports handicappers are getting behind Jalen Hurts’ opportunity to win the Heisman Trophy. But why?
On Monday, ESPN released an updated list of Heisman odds provided by the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook. The list included opening odds as well as updated odds to give a comparison of where players began the year and where they stand now.
To begin the season, Alabama had four players listed with odds to win the Heisman Trophy: quarterback Jalen Hurts (20-1), wide receiver Calvin Ridley (100-1), running back Bo Scarbrough (20-1) and defensive end Da’Shawn Hand (60-1). Fast forward to Monday and all of them had seen their odds drop significantly, with the exception of Jalen Hurts who had only dropped to 50-1.
