Legendary Football Coach David Cutcliffe Among Newly Elected Inductees for the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Long-time football coach and Birmingham native David Cutcliffe has been selected as one of eight members of the Class of 2016 to be inducted into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame. Cutcliffe has served as either an assistant or head coach at the collegiate level for 33 seasons.

Coach Cutcliffe began his career as an assistant football coach in 1976 at Banks High School, his alma mater, in Birmingham after graduating from the University of Alabama. He served in that position for four seasons until taking over the head coach position in 1980.
