ESPN’s Kirk Hebstreit wants to see a more competitive College Football Playoff field in the future after a lackluster first round of the inaugural 12-team College Football Playoff.
The winning teams outscored their opponents 145 to 68 to conclude the first round over the weekend.
Herbstreit is hopeful these results show the College Football Playoff Committee why strength of schedule matters.
“I hope next year the committee won’t get caught up and what the social media and a lot of people who are fringe fans get caught up in, which is wins,” Herbstreit said on ESPN following the first round.
