LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Alabama baseball team lost to Kentucky 3-2 on a near-freezing Friday night at Cliff Hagan Stadium. The loss was the Crimson Tide’s first loss in an SEC series opener and moves the team’s record to 18-12 overall and 5-5 in SEC play.
For Alabama (18-12, 5-5 SEC), junior starter Geoffrey Bramblett worked eight innings and struck out a season-high nine. He allowed three runs on five hits with a walk and retired 11 straight from the second through the fifth inning. A single in the sixth broke the streak and was followed by a sacrifice bunt attempt that resulted in a throwing error and allowed the batter to reach and advance to second to put two in scoring position.
