Kentucky downs Tide 85-59 in the SEC quarterfinals

AP

NASHVILLE -- The Kentucky Wildcats are hard to handle under any circumstances but the Kentucky team that Alabama faced on Friday night pushed that to another level.

The SEC co-champion Wildcats had their best shooting night of the season, draining 13 of 22 3-pointers and crushing Alabama 85-59 in the quarterfinals of the SEC Tournament. The loss dropped Alabama to 18-14 on the season and left UA waiting until Sunday to find out its postseason fate, primarily built on a question of whether the Crimson Tide receives an NIT bid or not.

Alabama hadn't come closer than 16 points in its two previous meetings with Kentucky this season and while UA corrected some earlier problems, it encountered a new set in the third meeting.
