Karyla Middlebrook was thrown into the fire right from the start.
As a freshman, she started the first seven games at point guard for the University of Alabama women’s basketball team. She then sustained a stress fracture in her hip that kept her out the rest of the 2013-2014 season.
But, she came back the following season and started every game for the Crimson Tide. She’ll be out there again Friday night when UA opens its 2015-16 season at Coleman Coliseum in the first game of a men-women basketball doubleheader.
“It was nice to come back into a role like that,” Middlebrook said.
