Just how valuable is football to Alabama sports?

Of course, football steers the financial ship of Alabama's athletics department. That's not news.

But how much of the department's money comes from that one sport? The school's annual financial report filed with the NCAA illustrates just how valuable football has been.

Bottom line: The $95.1 million in football revenue works out to 81 percent of the sports-specific income Alabama made in 2015. The men's basketball program was next with $12.8 million of revenue.

Overall athletics department profit was down to $16.6 million in 2015 after hitting $33 million a year earlier.
