Jim McElwain just one-upped Nick Saban. Saban and every other SEC coach since 1992.
By leading wounded but dangerous Florida past LSU in the payback victory of the year 16-10, McElwain has steered the Gators back to the SEC Championship Game for the second time in his first two seasons in Gainesville.
No other SEC coach has done that. Not Saban. Not Urban Meyer. Not anyone but Coach Mac.
Saban can congratulate McElwain in person in Atlanta, where Alabama's task against the gritty Gators will be more challenging than it would've been against Tennessee.
Two weeks ahead of his rematch with his old boss, McElwain did something Saturday that will have more far-reaching implications for Alabama, Florida and everyone else in the league.
