He learned a lot under Shane Steichen, but Jalen Hurts could be even better next season.
Steichen accepted a head coaching position for the Indianapolis Colts, but the Philadelphia Eagles hired from within for its new offensive coordinator. Brian Johnson, the Eagles’ quarterbacks coach, is now the play-caller according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
He worked with Steichen to assist Hurts in making a huge leap last season. Johnson’s closeness with Hurts allowed the third-year quarterback to total 3,701 passing yards and 35 touchdowns in the regular season. Hurts carried Philadelphia to 14 wins, an NFC Championship, and a berth in Super Bowl LVII.
