George Godsey reportedly is a candidate to replace Steve Sarkisian as Alabama offensive coordinator, which could mean Nick Saban is wanting to go back to more of a pro-style attack.
Godsey, 38, served as offensive coordinator of the Houston Texans the past two seasons, then was dismissed following the Texans’ playoff loss to the New England Patriots. Houston finished 29th in the league in total offense. The Texans attempted to install former Denver Bronco Brock Osweiler at quarterback in a high-priced signing that so far has failed to pan out.
Godsey got his first pro job under Bill Belichick with the Patriots, where he served as tight ends coach in 2012 and ’13 while directing a unit that included four-time All-Pro Rob Gronkowski.
