Iowa’s Chris Doyle has nudged Alabama from the top of the list of highest-paid strength and conditioning coaches.
According to USA Today, Iowa’s Doyle now earns $595,000 a year in charge of the Hawkeyes’ strength and conditioning program. That’s some $70,000 more than the salary of Alabama’s Scott Cochran, previously the nation’s highest-paid strength coach.
The raise represents an increase of about 15 percent from Doyle’s previous salary. In fact, he now earns an amount comparable to the base salaries of Iowa’s offensive and defensive coordinators – and more than the base pay of more than two dozen head coaches in Football Bowl Subdivision programs last season.
