Instant Reaction: Freddie Roach returns to Alabama, Pete Golding may be retained

Some good information is swirling around the University of Alabama football program this offseason, and it begins with the return of a former player. Reports surfaced on social media over the weekend about Freddie Roach being a visitor on campus and meeting with Nick Saban.

After transitioning Brian Baker to an off-field role, a spot on the coaching staff opened and Roach showed interested in wanting the job. Upon an official announcement from Saban, the Alabama native will serve as defensive line coach. He played inside linebacker for the Crimson Tide from 2002-05 and twice served on Saban’s staff from 2008-10 and then from 2015-16.
