Alabama football likes to use a marketing slogan to sum up the physical and mental transformation players undergo after they are immersed in Nick Saban's program. "Built by Bama," is the catchphrase, and it is pressed on T-shirts and slapped onto banners and hashtagged on social media to advertise Alabama football.
This week, though, with National Signing Day and the Super Bowl converging alongside a recruiting milestone for Alabama coach Nick Saban, it might be more appropriate to temporarily change the message. If present-day players who enter the program as freshmen are "built by Bama," then the origin story of the greatest era of Alabama football could be summed up by changing one word.
