Athletics leaders at Auburn and Alabama are in the early stages of understanding and gathering information about the possible impacts of widespread legalized sports gambling after the Supreme Court's decision to overturn the federal law prohibiting sports betting in most states earlier this month.
Though the state of Alabama is not expected to be at the forefront of legalized sports betting, neither Auburn athletic director Allen Greene or Alabama athletic director Greg Byrne said they've been in touch with the governor's office or local officials regarding any legislation that may be coming.
However, they are keeping a watchful eye on Mississippi, which could be one of the first states to have legalized sports gambling outside of Nevada.
