How Alabama OC Brian Daboll's vision was realized in season's 11th hour

In the dead of last summer, long before a backup quarterback threw a 41-yard touchdown pass to a freshman receiver that secured Alabama its 17th national championship, Brian Daboll revealed the central tenet of his coaching approach.

"Everybody's got a job to do," he said in August.

In the afterglow of victory during the wee hours of Tuesday morning, when he was still absorbing Alabama's thrilling 26-23 win over Georgia, Daboll repeated a variation of that refrain.

"That's the philosophy I grew up under," Daboll said.

He knew it worked and had seen the results it produced with the New England Patriots -- the preeminent NFL organization that won five Super Bowl titles during his two stints as an assistant.
