Hours of work goes into perfecting Tide's floor routines

When junior University of Alabama gymnast Amanda Jetter returned to the floor exercise lineup this season, she came with a new look months in the making. Jetter debuted a new floor routine this season – one she said better reflected her personality and one that took hours of planning with coach and choreographer Dana Duckworth in the early preseason.

“I wanted something upbeat, something to show my personality more,” Jetter said. “My last routine was more downbeat, more serious, and I’m more relaxed, more fun. I was looking for something, upbeat, fun–something I could smile to.”

Every new floor exercise for the Crimson Tide starts the same way – with an idea for music from either Duckworth or the gymnast, well before the conversation about choreography even starts.
