Home run puts Tide's McCleney in elite company

History is written by the bold.

Haylie McCleney secured a special spot in collegiate softball history Friday night with a mighty, compact stroke of her bat, driving a home run over the fence in right field at Rhoads Stadium.

That two-run shot further etched McCleney's name into the history books as the fourth-ranked University of Alabama powered to a 7-2 victory over No. 15 Georgia in front of a crowd of 3,273.

A week after setting the SEC career record for walks, the senior center fielder from Morris notched her 300th career hit with the long ball in the fourth inning to gain entry into sport's most exclusive sorority: the 300-200-100 club.
