Alabama running back Joshua Jacobs was named the SEC freshman of the week after totaling over 150 yards of total offense and scoring a rushing touchdown in the Crimson Tide’s 34-6 win over Kentucky on Saturday night.
Jacobs (5 feet 10, 204 pounds) has gained 327 total yards this season and scored three rushing touchdowns. It is surprising production for a consensus three-star recruit who wasn’t supposed to see much, if any, time this season, considering the Tide has three former five-star recruits — sophomores Damien Harris and Bo Scarbrough and true freshman E.J. Emmons — on the roster at running back.
