No. 2 Alabama followed up a dominating victory over LSU with a methodical 31-6 dismantling of Mississippi State on Saturday.
The rout over what had been a 7-2 Mississippi State team keeps Alabama on track for an SEC West title, a league championship and a spot in the four-team College Football Playoff. The Tide (9-1 overall, 6-1 in the SEC) next faces FCS team Charleston Southern before finishing up the regular season with a game at Auburn. Yes, the Iron Bowl matches fierce rivals and has had its share of unexplainable results. That said, Auburn on Saturday was shut down by a Georgia team that Alabama demolished last month, and the Tigers’ popgun offense shouldn’t test the Tide all that much.
