The University of Alabama running back position is one of the most closely monitored in the country. Since 2011, when Mark Ingram was selected in the first round of the NFL Draft by the New Orleans Saints, the starting spot on the depth chart has been a sure-fire pipeline to the NFL.
Just as surely, the second position has been perennially pegged as the next man up to replace one of the most productive backs in the country. But many times, it’s the third running back that provides the most intrigue.
In 2010 it was Eddie Lacy, running behind Ingram and Trent Richardson, capturing fans’ imaginations with a 13-carry, 111-yard, two-touchdown performance in his first career game.
