Alabama’s Derrick Henry totally outplayed LSU’s Leonard Fournette in a head-to-head matchup last Saturday.
Henry was terrific: 38 carries, 210 yards, three touchdowns. Fournette had 19 carries for 31 yards and a TD.
I’ve had Henry among my top five Heisman candidates for weeks. But – unlike many others — I’m not ready to vault him over Fournette. Why? In the words of the NCAA basketball tournament selection committee, it’s the body of work.
Fournette has been brilliant in every game this season except one. And he had no chance against Alabama’s ferocious front seven, which dominated LSU’s offensive line.
