As far as Father’s Day gifts go, this one pretty much takes the cake.
Former University of Alabama pitcher Adam Morgan is about to give his father Wiley Morgan a moment he’ll never forget Sunday when he steps out to the mound to make his major league debut for the Philadelphia Phillies.
The third-round pick in the 2011 draft was called up Friday to replace injured starter Jerome Williams in Sunday’s game against the St. Louis Cardinals.
The opportunity, however, has been a long time coming.
The 25-year-old Morgan quickly ascended the Phillies’ minor league system, reaching the Triple-A level just two years after being drafted.
