Former UA receiver Cam Sims promoted to Redskins’ active roster

Should he retain his position as head coach, Jay Gruden will have another chance to work with Cam Sims at wide receiver.

The former Alabama standout was promoted to the Washington Redskins’ active roster on Tuesday, after returning to its practice squad back on Sept. 1.

Washington, who is 0-4 on the season, needs all the help it can get – especially on offense.

At 6-foot-5 and 214 pounds, Sims gives a quarterback in Dwayne Haskins a primary target on the outside in jump ball situations. A native of Monroe, La., Sims could have had a much bigger career for the Crimson Tide; however, injuries and inconsistent play at quarterback halted it.
