An ex-Alabama assistant coach was honored by his hometown Monday night.
The city of Tallassee recognized former Crimson Tide defensive backs coach Derrick Ansley during a city council meeting and awarded him a key to the city.
Ansley, who was Alabama's defensive backs coach the last two seasons, was recently hired as the Oakland Raiders' defensive backs coach.
"Being recognized and given the key to the city means a lot to me and my family," Ansley said. "Tallassee is very near and dear to my heart. The relationships and guidance I formed there played a significant role in shaping and molding me into the man I am today.
