Former Alabama running back Glen Coffee was among the names on the NFL’s transaction wire Friday.
What made his name particularly stand out is because it came seven years after last playing in a game.
Coffee was reinstated and then promptly waived by the San Francisco 49ers. He retired from the NFL after just one season during training camp in August 2010.
Coffee, a third-round pick in the 2009 NFL Draft, said he wasn’t passionate about football and that it was God’s will for him to retire. He has since become a paratrooper in the U.
