In January, Arizona Cardinals coach Bruce Arians made several changes to his coaching staff.
Among them, former Alabama quarterback Freddie Kitchens moved from quarterbacks to running backs coach after the departure of Stump Mitchell, who held the position previously.
According to Arians, Kitchens is being groomed for a promotion and is being referred to as the “coordinator-in-waiting.”
“It’s another step for Freddie to become a coordinator,” Arians said in January.
Kitchens was Alabama’s starting quarterback from 1995-97. He threw for 4,668 yards and 30 touchdowns and ranked third in school history in career passing attempts, fourth in career passing yards and fifth in career completions at the time of his departure.
