Former Alabama defensive back DeVonta Smith will be transferring to Notre Dame. The news was reported by a number of people including On3’s Pete Nakos and 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz.
Smith’s departure comes after his fourth season in Tuscaloosa. The native of Cincinnati, Ohio was a starter for the Crimson Tide during the 2024 season. He recorded 30 tackles, five pass deflections, and one forced fumble.
He was expected to be a key player in Alabama’s secondary next season, but that will no longer happen. Smith joins a Notre Dame football program that is trending in the right direction.
