A distinguished member of Alabama football is now retiring after 47 years of service.
Finus Gaston has witnessed the success and growth of the Crimson Tide from Paul W. “Bear” Bryant to Nick Saban.
As a Tuscaloosa native, Tide football was in his blood from birth. His father, Finus C. Gaston, was a sports information director from 1952-61 and his mother (Jewell Gaston) was an employee in the Tide Pride and Ticketing Office. After graduating from Tuscaloosa High School in 1969, Gaston enrolled at the University of Alabama.
He was the head football manager for Coach Bryant from 1971 to 1973.
