Former Alabama wide receiver Tyrone Prothro is reuniting with his former Alabama coach, Mike Shula, in the NFL.
Prothro’s football career ended in 2005, when he suffered a gruesome leg injury against Florida. He has had 11 surgeries on the leg.
Since finishing college, Prothro has worked as a bank teller, an account manager at Coca-Cola and for a Toyota dealership in Tuscaloosa.
Prothro had 58 catches for 863 yards and five touchdowns in a three-year career. Shula was at Alabama throughout Prothro’s playing time with the Tide. He has been the Panthers’ offensive coordinator since 2013 after serving as their quarterback coach from 2011-12.
