Former Arkansas and Clemson coach Danny Ford is thinking about joining the race for a state Senate seat in South Carolina.
“Some people have discussed it with me,” Ford told the Anderson (S.C.) Independent-Mail. “I don’t know. I haven’t talked to my family about it.”
The seat had been held by Kevin Bryant, who was sworn in as South Carolina’s lieutenant governor Wednesday. So far, three Republicans have confirmed they will run for the now-vacant seat, while Ford and state Rep. Anne Thayer have contemplated running.
Ford was named to the 2017 College Football Hall of Fame Class earlier this month, making him the fourth coach in Clemson history to receive the honor.
