Does Alabama deserve to be No. 1 ahead of Clemson?

So being undefeated does mean something.

Well, pardon the SEC's confusion over the College Football Playoff selection committee's placement of Clemson No. 1 ahead of No. 2 Alabama then. Florida State circa Dec. 2014 might like a word with Jeff Long and Co. as well. After all, the undefeated Noles were put at No. 3 in the committee's final rankings last year, behind one-loss Alabama and Oregon.

Something doesn't add up.

On the heels of Clemson struggling with an unranked and sub-.500 Syracuse team, it seemed as if the opportunity to move Alabama to No. 1 was there.
