Released by the Los Angeles Chargers on Tuesday, former Alabama standout D.J. Fluker has a new NFL team after agreeing on a one-year contract with the New York Giants, NFL Network reported on Saturday night.

Fluker is joining the Giants on a one-year contract, the NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported.

Fluker had started all 59 of his NFL games since joining the San Diego Chargers as the 11th pick in the 2013 NFL Draft. But Fluker was due to make $8,821,000 for the 2017 season after the Chargers picked up their fifth-year option on his four-year rookie contract in April, and that salary would have become guaranteed had he been on the team's roster when the new league year started on Thursday afternoon.
