The Detroit Lions waived former Alabama All-American Cyrus Kouandjio on Tuesday, indicating the NFL team will go with ex-Auburn standout Greg Robinson as its starter at left offensive tackle.
The Lions signed Kouandjio and traded with the Los Angeles Rams for Robinson on June 15, shortly after losing their left tackle, Taylor Decker, to a torn labrum.
Kouandjio had to deal with some injury issues in training camp, and he had played in only one of Detroit's three preseason games.
Kouandjio signed with the Lions after being released by the Buffalo Bills on May 24.
