NEW YORK | In the afterglow of the most substantial moment of his young life, Derrick Henry stayed up until the wee hours.

He wasn't out partying after becoming the University of Alabama's second Heisman Trophy winner. No, the nation's most-awarded college football player of 2015 was returning text messages.

All 500 of them.

“There were a lot of people that reached out to me and told me congratulations and that they're happy for me and proud of me,” Henry said Sunday afternoon while on a balcony overlooking Times Square at the Marriott Marquis in midtown Manhattan.
