Avery Johnson is new to college basketball this season, but the University of Alabama’s head basketball coach knows a tough place to play when he sees one.
The Crimson Tide will be in just such a spot today when it faces the Dayton Flyers, an NCAA Tournament team for coach Archie Miller for the past two seasons. The game is part of a daylong NCAA basketball event on ESPN, and that exposure was the deciding factor for Johnson in scheduling the game.
“We know we are an underdog,” Johnson said on Monday before the team’s departure for Dayton.
