If David Cornwell wins the Alabama starting quarterback job this season, at least partial credit belongs to Terry Shea.
The former Rutgers head coach and NFL offensive coordinator has been working with the Alabama redshirt freshman since last June on his fundamentals and technique. The connection between the two began after Shea spoke at a camp in Florida that a middle school-aged Cornwell attended. When it came time for Cornwell to hire a private quarterback coach, more than a half-decade later, he remembered the camp and looked up Shea.
Since getting reconnected, the two have met up whenever Cornwell had a break from school.
