The Dallas Cowboys waived former Alabama offensive lineman Korren Kirven on Tuesday.
Reports indicate Kirven suffered a calf injury on Sunday night at the Cowboys' 27-3 preseason loss to the Arizona Cardinals.
Because Kirven was waived carrying an injury designation, he should revert to Dallas' injured-reserve list if he goes unclaimed by any other NFL team during the 24-hour waiver period. He could stay there for the entire season, he could be activated after eight weeks or he could be waived again off IR with an injury settlement.
The latter has happened to two other players with Alabama football roots this week.
