PHOENIX | Dabo Swinney didn't wait long before he started to get the band back together.
Swinney, a former University of Alabama walk-on receiver who played on UA's 1992 national championship team and got his coaching start at his alma mater, was promoted to head coach at Clemson in December of 2008. Before the month was out, he had brought in Woody McCorvey and Danny Pearman, who were assistant coaches on that championship team.
More recently, he hired Thad Turnipseed, a fellow walk-on from the 1990s era under Gene Stallings, as his director of recruiting and external affairs.
