Released by New England on Sept. 1, cornerback Cyrus Jones returned to the Patriots on Wednesday.
New England waived Jones when it reduced its 90-player preseason roster to the regular-season limit of 53, and the former Alabama standout had spent the intervening two weeks on the practice squad of the Baltimore Ravens.
The Ravens revealed New England had signed Jones when they announced the addition of defensive back Makinton Dorleant to take Jones' spot on their practice squad.
New England coach Bill Belichick declined to answer a question about Jones at his Wednesday morning press conference because he said he didn't want to talk about players who weren't on the roster yet.
